Aespa Dominates Chinese Charts with ‘Supernova’, Continues Global Success
Girl group aespa has made headlines by topping the Chinese charts with their new song ‘Supernova’.
Released on May 13, aespa’s first full-length album’s double title track ‘Supernova’ quickly climbed to the top of the Tencent Music K-POP chart, securing both daily and weekly (May 13-19) number one spots. This achievement reaffirms aespa’s global presence and popularity.
The Tencent Music K-POP chart is a comprehensive chart that combines streaming indices, digital album sales, and recommendation indices from five music platforms under Tencent Music: QQ Music, Kugou Music, Kuwo Music, Vodien Music, and JOOX. The fact that ‘Supernova’ topped this chart demonstrates its widespread appeal in China.
Moreover, ‘Supernova’ not only topped the QQ Music overall and Korean music video charts weekly but also earned the ‘Triple Gold’ album certification, awarded to albums with sales exceeding 750,000 yuan. This further solidifies aespa’s reputation as a ‘global hitmaker.‘
Following the success of ‘Supernova,’ aespa is set to release their first full-length album ‘Armageddon’ on May 27. To celebrate the release, aespa will host a ‘aespa Armageddon Countdown Live’ on YouTube, TikTok, and Weverse at 5 PM, where they will preview the new songs and share behind-the-scenes stories with global fans.
‘Armageddon,’ aespa’s first full-length album, includes a total of 10 tracks: the double title tracks ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Supernova,’ as well as ‘Set The Tone,’ ‘Mine,’ ‘Licorice,’ ‘BAHAMA,’ ‘Long Chat (#♥),’ ‘Prologue,’ ‘Live My Life,’ and ‘Melody.’ All tracks will be available on various music platforms starting at 6 PM on May 27.
