Each year since 2008, Fast Company has recognized companies whose innovative endeavors are impacting industries and cultures across the globe. In addition to the overall ranking of the 50 Most Innovative Companies, Fast Company also recognizes companies in each industry sector. HYBE was recognized for the third time this year, having been named to the list in 2020 and 2022.This year’s list includes some of the world’s leading global companies, including Nvidia (No. 1), Microsoft (No. 3), YouTube (No. 7), Google (No. 30), and UMG (No. 45), and HYBE was the only Korean company to make the list, ranking 23rd overall. In the industry category, HYBE ranked second in design.

Fast Company cited HYBE’s strong revenue and performance from its existing roster of artists, as well as the emergence of new artist NEWJEANS, as reasons for the honor. NEWJEANS rose to prominence by tapping into 1990s nostalgia with his analog vibes, R&B-esque songs, and dreamy visuals.

Furthermore, NEWJEANS’ unique identity has made their albums from “New Jeans” to “OMG” and “Get Up” popular worldwide. The five members of NEWJEANS have been influential as ambassadors for global fashion brands.

Fast Company analyzed how NEWJEANS became a mainstream group, elevating music to the highest level of commercial art, and noted how global brands such as Apple, Nike, and Coca-Cola have collaborated with NEWJEANS – not just by featuring artists in their campaigns, but by bringing brands into the world of NEWJEANS, taking their campaigns to a new level.

He cited examples such as shooting the “ETA” music video on an Apple iPhone 14 Pro to showcase his steady camera skills, collaborating with Coca-Cola on the “Zero” song and music video to blur the lines between commercial and song, and reimagining a scene from the “Ditto” music video to effectively showcase Nike products.

Prior to the success of NEWJEANS, HYBE had already garnered global attention for its role in BTS’s meteoric rise to fame and the explosive success of SEVENTEEN. Although HYBE has a legal dispute with ADOR over NEWJEANS, the company has stated that it will not have a significant impact on the group’s overall performance as sales of NEWJEANS are a small percentage of total sales.
