BTS member J Hope has won the top prize at the ‘Strong Warrior, Army! Presentation Competition,’ expressing his immense pride in serving in the military.
On June 4th, J Hope participated in the ‘2024 Strong Warrior, Army! Presentation Competition’ held at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul. His presentation was titled ‘From BTS’s J-Hope, a Pioneer Leading K-pop to the World, to Sergeant Jung Ho-seok, a Proud Soldier of the Republic of Korea.’
In his speech, J Hope shared, “The mental training materials used by trainees feature BTS videos and photos. When trainees tell me, ‘It was an honor to serve with you,’ I feel that I am taking meaningful first steps with those who are a crucial part of Korea’s security.” He continued, “Just as I contributed to the development of Korean culture with my blood, sweat, tears, and voice on stage, I am now contributing in a different way as a soldier. Serving in the military in a country where I can be a source of strength is a great pride for me.”
J Hope enlisted in the army as an active-duty soldier in April last year and is currently serving as an instructor at the 36th Infantry Division’s boot camp. He is scheduled to be discharged in October this year.
J Hope’s achievement highlights his awareness of his influence as a BTS member and his positive utilization of it even during his military service. His presentation successfully conveyed his pride and patriotism as a soldier, touching many hearts.
Furthermore, J Hope linked his role as a K-pop star and a soldier, explaining that both represent and contribute to Korea. This suggests that military service is not just an obligation but an opportunity to reaffirm personal values and contributions to the nation.
