CANDY SHOP is back with a new member, Julia, but can a member change work 40 days into the show?
K-pop group CANDY SHOP (Candy Shop) is preparing for a comeback in June after reforming with the addition of new member Julia. Their agency, Brave Entertainment, announced on the 14th that Julia will be joining existing members Soram, Sui, and Sarang.
It’s not uncommon for idol groups to add new members midway through their careers, and the strategy is often used to fill in gaps or breathe new life into a group. However, CANDY SHOP’s change of members just three months after their debut is particularly noteworthy. This decision has attracted a lot of attention, especially as existing member Yoo Ina has temporarily suspended her activities for health reasons.
Brave Entertainment said that the addition of Julia, born in 2008, “completes the group’s reorganisation. We are confident that she will bring new vitality to the group with a more mature look.” Julia will continue to work on CANDY SHOP’s first mini album “Hashtag#” with Soram, Sui, and Sarang. CANDY SHOP has established itself as a ‘Generation Z hotspot’ with its trendy music and performances.
Compared to Brave Girls, which was produced by Brave Entertainment in the past, the group has experienced a successful comeback through member changes and hiatus. Brave Girls went through several member changes and a hiatus, but succeeded in making a comeback through the ‘Rollin’ backtracking syndrome. It will be interesting to see what changes CANDY SHOP’s reorganisation will bring to the group.
Meanwhile, CANDY SHOP will be appearing with new member Julia at the IKONYX 2024 Concert in Bangkok, Thailand on the 18th of this month. This performance marks the beginning of CANDY SHOP’s full-scale global tour and is highly anticipated by fans.
CANDY SHOP’s comeback in June and global tour is expected to bring new fun to fans. It will be interesting to see what new charms CANDY SHOP will show after the reorganisation with Julia’s addition.
