A Glimpse into ‘Wonderland’

‘Wonderland’ explores the concept of reuniting with deceased loved ones through an AI-powered video call service. The newly released stills highlight the poignant moments and emotional reunions that take place in this virtual realm.

In one striking still, Tang Wei’s character, ‘Bai Li’, is seen as an archaeologist braving a desert sandstorm with a determined look on her face. This image captures her character’s resolve and sets the tone for her journey in the film. Gong Yoo makes a special appearance as ‘Sung Joon’, an AI character monitoring the interactions within ‘Wonderland’. His role adds an intriguing layer to the narrative, sparking curiosity about his connection with ‘Bai Li’.

Character Dynamics and Emotional Depth

The stills also introduce the characters ‘Harry’ and ‘Hyun Soo’, played by Jung Yu-mi and Choi Woo-shik, respectively. They are the planners of the ‘Wonderland’ service, responsible for fulfilling clients’ wishes and preserving precious memories. One still shows them attentively addressing the desires of ‘Yong Shik’, played by Choi Moo-sung, who dreams of a second life in a beautiful resort after death. This highlights the planners’ dedication to their clients’ needs and the emotional significance of their work.

In another touching scene, Nina Paw’s character, ‘Hwa Ran’, connects to ‘Wonderland’ to set up a video call for ‘Bai Li’s’ young daughter, ‘Jia’, played by Ye Ka-won. This interaction is especially poignant as ‘Jia’ is unaware of her mother’s death, adding a layer of emotional complexity to the story.
