Rookie group ILLIT is quickly taking over the U.S. Billboard charts.
Rookie group ILLIT, produced by Hive Chairman Bang Si Hyuk, has received the green light for a long run on the U.S. Billboard charts.
According to the latest Billboard charts (May 4) released on April 30 (local time), ILLIT’s (YoonA, Minju, Mocha, Wonhee, I.R.O.R.H.) mini album “SUPER REAL ME” title track “Magnetic” was ranked at No. 8 and No. 21 on the Global (excluding U.S.) and Global 200, respectively, marking the group’s fifth consecutive week on the charts.
With global pop stars such as Taylor Swift and Post Malone dominating the top two charts, “Magnetic” stands out from the crowd.
The Global (excluding U.S.) and Global 200 charts are ranked by Billboard by aggregating streams from more than 200 countries and territories around the world and are considered one of the best indicators of global popularity.
Earlier, “Magnetic” made history by becoming the first K-pop group’s debut song to enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (April 20), Billboard’s main singles chart.
Aileet’s mini album “SUPER REAL ME,” which included “Magnetic,” was ranked at No. 5 on the World Albums chart and No. 9 on the Hitscience Albums chart for five consecutive weeks.
ILLIT was also listed on the ‘Emerging Artists’ chart at #26 for the fourth consecutive week.ILLIT continues to perform well on major Korean music charts.
“Magnetic,” which had achieved the so-called “perfect all-kill” by topping the daily charts of Melon, Bucks, Genie Music, Naver Vibe, and Flo until last week, also reached No. 2 on the daily charts of Melon, Bucks, and Genie Music released on April 29.
ILLIT is the #1 monthly listener on Spotify in the K-pop girl group category.
According to Spotify chart analytics site Chartmasters on April 5 (local time), ILLIT has the most monthly listeners among K-pop girl groups with 17.779 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
They are followed by Blackpink in second place with 17.657 million listeners, while Newzeans and LeSSeraphim are third and fourth with 16.548 million and 15.694 million, respectively.
In fifth place was (G)idle with 11.854 million.
In the overall K-pop category, BLACKPINK’s Jenny topped the list with 34.82 million, followed by BTS and Jungkook with 27.77 million and 25.34 million, respectively. Aileet was ranked fourth in the category.
“Magnetic” is a song that compares the heart to a magnet, running full speed toward the person you like.
ILLIT’s wacky charm and bubbly melody go well together, and the song has become popular among teenage fans around the world.
The choreography that expresses the moment when the N and S poles of a magnet are attached and separated is also leading the short form challenge craze.
