SEVENTEEN dominate the US Billboard charts. Replacing BTS?
Boy group SEVENTEEN (ESCOOPS, Junghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Uzi, D.E.A.T., Mingyu, Dogyeom, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino) has taken over the top spot on the US Billboard album chart with their best album.
According to the latest chart (dated 18 May) released by Billboard on the 14th (local time), SEVENTEEN’s best album “17 IS RIGHT HERE” is ranked #5 on the main album chart “Billboard 200”. This marks SEVENTEEN’s fifth consecutive album to reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
In addition, 17 IS RIGHT HERE swept Billboard’s music-related sub-charts, debuting at No. 1 on the World Albums, as well as No. 3 on the Top Album Sales and Top Current Albums. The album achieved double-million seller status on the day of release and sold over 2.96 million copies in its first week, heralding its early Billboard success.
The album’s title track “MAESTRO” is also gaining popularity. The song, which was written and composed by SEVENTEEN’s album producer Uzi, is ranked at No. 50 on the Global 200 and No. 21 on the Global (excluding U.S.) 200. These are up 41 and 19 places respectively from the previous week. “MAESTRO” also debuted at No. 5 on the World Digital Song Sales chart.
SEVENTEEN re-entered the Artist 100 chart at No. 4, thanks to the twin popularity of their album and music video. This is the group’s 45th chart entry.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN continues their global influence with a massive stadium tour in Japan. They will hold “SEVENTEEN TOUR ‘FOLLOW’ AGAIN” at Osaka Yanmar Stadium on the 18th and 19th and Kanagawa Nissan Stadium on the 25th and 26th of this month. An urban concert playpark, SEVENTEEN ‘FOLLOW’ THE CITY OSAKA/YOKOHAMA, will also be held in Japan before and after the concerts.
